Acer palmatum - Butterfly
Overview
The leaves of Butterfly are small (3-7cm long and 5-6cm wide) and five-lobed. During spring the leaves have white/cream variegated margins on a green leaf, sometimes with slight tinges of pink bordering the white/cream portions. During autumn the white/cream areas turn red while the green areas become more of a gold colour. Butterfly makes an attractive tree that is always popular and which is well suited for smaller gardens. Introduced by Koichiro Wada, Japan, 1938.
